Thanksgiving Food & Hygiene Drives

ST. MARK CATHOLIC COMMUNITY CHURCH & SCHOOL FOOD DRIVE

AND THE WESTSIDE THANKSGIVING HYGIENE DRIVE

NOVEMBER 6TH-17TH  

There are two different drives going on during November. Between November 6th-17th we ask all families to bring in donations. Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for the many blessings in our lives, and it is also a great time to give to others. Please review the below items and do your best to donate.  Thank you for your support! Together, we will be helping a lot of people in our community!

 

ST. MARK CHURCH FOOD DRIVE

This particular food drive will help families in our own community by providing them with a Thanksgiving basket of food. Note: Each grade is assigned to donate one of the below items to ensure that all items are donated.

 

All Grades:

$25 Gift card to a local grocery story for a family to purchase a turkey (we are unable to store fresh or frozen turkeys)

8th Grade:

Potatoes (10 lb. bags preferred)

7th Grade:

Canned fruits

6th Grade:

Canned Vegetables (green beans, corn, etc).

5th Grade:

Bread and Tortillas

4th Grade:

Rice

3rd Grade:

Bagged, Boxed, Canned beans (pinto, black, kidney, baked)

2nd Grade:

Stuffing or Dressing (in a box)

1st Grade:

Canned or Boxed soup or broth

Kindergarten:

Boxed Cake or Brownie mix and frosting

Transitional Kindergarten:

Cooking oil of all types

 

WESTSIDE THANKSGIVING HYGIENE DRIVE

This drive is run by Westside Thanksgiving and focuses on providing hygiene items to the homeless.

All grades:

The following items would be most appreciated:

  1. Toothpaste
  2. Toothbrushes
  3. Shampoo
  4. Soap
  5. Deodorant
  6. Shower Gel

 

 Bring all donations to school and place in boxes in homerooms. Additional boxes will be placed in the main hallway. 

 

Families interested in volunteering have the following opportunities:

 

Sunday, November 19 7:45am - 1:30pm

  • 7:45 Setting up tables in parish hall for food sorting
  • Collecting, and sorting food donations
  • Collecting monetary donations at the end of each Mass
  • Drop-in basis, check in at church patio

Monday, November 20 Beginning at 9:30am:

  • Check, count and sort food
  • Break down rice and beans into ziplock bags
  • Create Thanksgiving cards for each food box
  • Pack the food boxes

Monday Distribution: 4:00-6:30pm

  • Individuals able to assist with carrying and/or delivering heavy food packages
