About Mrs. Ruvolo & Miss Severns

Mrs. Ruvolo

Mrs. Ruvolo is joining St Mark this year as a third grade teacher, along with an 8th grade math class.  This will be her 16th year teaching, and she has taught 5th grade, middle school math, art K-8, and an assortment of other things throughout the years. After converting to Catholicism in high school, Mrs. Ruvolo got her BA in Religion at Florida State University with a minor in mathematics and coaching.  She also met her husband there while they were both playing trombone in the Marching Band!

Mrs. Ruvolo has always wanted to be a teacher, especially mathematics.  Students enjoy being in her class because her goal is always to see the whole person and not just a student in a classroom.  She also works hard to be fair, honest, and goofy.

Mrs. Ruvolo has moved around a lot in her life, including Ireland, but she recently moved from Colorado.  She will be missing the cold weather and snow, but hopes to find new passions here in sunny California!

Miss Severns

Miss Severns is so excited to join the Saint Mark family this year! She is a first year teacher from Manhattan Beach. Miss Severns got her BA in Education Science from the University of California, Irvine, and is completing her Master of Education at USC. She has been working with children since high school, where she directed children’s musical theatre productions. Miss Severns completed her student teaching in Torrance Unified School District, where she helped organize the STEAM fair, Student Council, and taught all core subjects. She is dedicated to helping all students achieve a quality, engaging education. Miss Severns also believes that an arts education is one of the most valuable things a student can have, especially in early childhood. In her limited downtime, you will find Miss Severns at the beach, at Disneyland, or at home, hanging out with her dog. Some of her favorite things include basketball, coffee, and any live theatre (her favorite play is Wicked!). She looks forward to an exciting year with the Saint Mark Lions!
