About Us - School Board » Purpose

Purpose

The primary duty of the board is to support the school’s mission; to that end, the board advises the principal in regards to and provides support for the following areas:

  • School Marketing Endeavors
  • School Finances
  • Plant Projects / Plant Enhancements
  • Strategic Planning
  • Fundraising
  • Liaison support between the school and the church of St. Mark Governance

The board’s role is to make suggestions and recommendations for the school. Day to day operations of the SMS, however, are the responsibility of the principal and administrative staff. The pastor oversees school and parish operations.

Meeting time, location, and access:
Board meetings are generally held the first Tuesday of each month from September through June, at 6:00 pm, in the faculty room of SMS (or virtually).  When a regularly scheduled board meeting falls on a holiday, that month's meeting will be rescheduled to the next closest Tuesday.

At each board meeting, the first 20 minutes are open to members of the St. Mark School family. If you would like to speak with the board during a regular meeting you are welcome to attend any regularly scheduled meeting. The board would appreciate an email in advance to any board member with a brief description of the topic you would like to address.  As you know, our school community finds its strength in the committed participation of all of its members.  You are always encouraged to reach out to any of the board members individually. Members of the St. Mark's community are encouraged to contact a board member about visiting a regular board meeting to share their thoughts and ideas for making St. Mark School an exceptional student-centered, Catholic school.
