Technology at St. Marks
Teaching our students how to responsibly and effectively use technology is a top priority at St. Marks. Whether it's through online learning games for math & phonics accessed via iPads, or through the development of personal websites & portfolios for our upperclassmen, made on our school laptops with the guidance of experienced teachers, students of all grades have the opportunity to incorporate technology into their everyday learning.
This year we are initiating a 1:1 iPad program for our 5th-8th grade class. Use of the iPad will be incorporated into the curriculum and each student will be assigned their own iPad to utilize both at home and at school.
The Library & Accelerated Readers Program
The library is a beloved resource at St. Marks. Students visit the library weekly and participate in our Accelerated Readers Program. This program assigns a specified reading level to each book based on standards from STAR testing. When students visit the library, teachers and parent volunteers help them select a book from their assigned reading range. This allows the students to be involved in using the library and selecting books that interest them, but also assures they will be supported, challenged and grow as readers by choosing books within the proper range.
Volunteering at the Library
Volunteers are needed both to code books into assigned reading levels and to assist students in selecting books during their weekly visits. Shifts are available on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons. Please contact the school office if you are interested in volunteering!
