About Mrs. Custer & Miss Ebiner Gavit
Mrs. Custer
Mrs. Custer grew up in Seattle, Washington and moved to sunny California in 2014. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. After eight years working in the travel industry, Mrs. Custer went back to school to earn a Master’s in Teaching. Active in various roles in elementary education since 2003, she feels being a second-grade teacher at St. Mark School is the best job ever! She loves to help her students grow their understanding of the world in a safe and fun learning environment! Outside of school, Mrs. Custer enjoys spending time with her family and going for long walks.
Miss Ebiner Gavit
Miss Ebiner Gavit loves the community at Saint Mark and is excited to begin her eighth year teaching second grade here. Before teaching, Miss Ebiner Gavit attended USC earning a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Teaching, and her teaching credential. She loves the excitement, curiosity, and wonder that second graders bring to the learning process and works to foster their love of reading, writing, and math in the classroom. Training in Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop as well as a Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) approach to math allows her to teach and challenge each child at his or her own level. Most importantly, Miss Ebiner Gavit is passionate about her Catholic faith and being able to teach in a Catholic environment. In her classroom, seeing the world through the lens of faith influences every subject area, not merely religion class. One of the greatest joys of her life is fostering the faith of her students and watching them fall in love with Jesus, Mary, and the Saints as they prepare for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Outside of teaching, Miss Ebiner Gavit loves to read, travel, and spend quality time with her family and friends.
