About Mrs. Maria Romero

Mrs. Romero grew up in Santa Monica, where she attended Catholic school for 12 years. Loving the sunshine and beaches of Southern California, she continued her education at USC, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art.

After working as a Technical Illustrator for many years, Mrs. Romero began teaching Art in 1997 for the SM/Malibu School District where she specialized in K-5 classrooms. She transferred to the Art position at SMS in 2007, where she had been a parent and parishioner for many years. She has been dedicated to informing and nurturing the creative development of SMS students ever since! 

Additional hats Mrs. R wears are; Yearbook Editor/Photographer, Admissions Hospitality Coordinator, and Summer Program Art Director. She is always doing something creative, walking with her husband Greg (and dog Rocco), hanging out with her 3 grown-up kids… and still loves the beach!
