Spring Break

Good Afternoon Everyone,

This will be my last post before Spring Break. I hope you are all doing well. A reminder that I will be posting Grades by the end of next week. Please if you have not done so, please finish the assignments. The assignments can be listed below:

If you are having problems or cannot complete the assignments before next week, or there is something else that you are not sure of, please let me know ASAP so we can make arrangements. You are all fantastic students and I really enjoy being able to share this knowledge with you all. Today will be the last day we do the Rosary before the break starts, so we will not resume the optional Rosary on the following Monday, the 20th of April. There will also be no classroom meeting next week. Enjoy your break and we will see you again the following week.

God Bless you all +
Mr. Coulombe

Week 4

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you have had an awesome weekend. This post is a reminder of our weekly classroom meetings which are as follows:

4th Grade (all students): Wednesdays @ 2-2:30 PM
6th Grade (all students): Mondays @ 1-1:30 PM
7th Grade (all students): Wednesdays @ 11-1130 AM
8th Grade (all students): Fridays @ 9:30-10:00 AM

Important note: For zoom meetings, we are now required to provide a password to access the meeting. I will provide that password shortly before each meeting.

There is also an optional rosary every school day from 3:00 until 3:30 PM and is extra credit (so far we have had a few students join us last week). Feel free to join us and email me for the login information. There will be no Rosary on Thursday or Friday due to Holy Week.

I hope this helps. Later tonight, I will post this week's lesson plans.

Week 3

Good Afternoon 7th Grade and Parents

Welcome to the third week of class. I hope that all of you have been adjusting to the new schedules. I want to give you a preview of what we will be doing this week:

Last week, we went over covenants and the covenants that God had made with his people. This week, we will continue with the Covenant that Jesus had made with the whole world through the Gospels. We will focus on the stages of Gospel Formation, as well as the Literary Aspects of the Gospel. The Gospels are the heart of Scripture since they convey the life, teachings, and Paschal Mystery of Our Lord. The threefold formation of development of the Gospels has been guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Each evangelist wrote to convey the Faith to a different audience, highlighting different aspects of Jesus’s life. On Monday and Wednesday, I will post an assignment on each day. Please make sure you have at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time before starting each assignment. If you are going to be late with the assignment, please let me know.

Please remember that we will be having a class meeting on zoom Wednesday at @ 11 AM. This counts for weekly participation. I will be having the login information in Google Classrooms in the announcements section later tonight. See https://classroom.google.com/

If for some reason you cannot make this session or if you are having trouble with the homework, feel free to contact me so that I can make the necessary adjustments.

Yours in Christ,
Mr. Coulombe

Grades

Hello Students and Parents,

I've graded some homework and sent back graded copies. Many of you did quite well. For those who didn't do so well, I have sent back copies with my comments. Please take a look at those comments. If you wish, you may retake any of the assignments I have sent back for a better grade.

Wednesday Classroom meetings and assignments

Good Morning Students and Parents:
I've posted the assignments on the classroom. If you need more time to complete the work, please let me know.

Also a reminder of our online virtual classroom will start tomorrow at 11 AM and continue weekly until we go back to school. The link to this information may be found here: https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/NTMyODc3NDM1MDFa/p/NTU5NDgzMjAwNzRa/details

I hope this helps, and as always feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Week 2

Good Afternoon,

Welcome to Week 2. During week 1, I wanted to keep it light to give you all a chance to get used to the new systems that we have in place. Some of you have asked me how I am going to grade the class, especially with the upcoming weeks. This is how I will be grading:

  • 35% Assessments
  • 35% Assignments (what was formerly classwork and homework)
  • 10% Participation
  • 20% Reflection Papers

Any assignments that I send out will be short answers or multiple choice questions that students will be expected to complete. They will be based on the videos that I post or discussions that we have each week.

I will be giving 3 participation points each week. The first point will be for watching videos that I post from time to time. These videos will be found on the webpage as well as the google classroom. The second point will be on our class discussions we will be having via zoom. I will be sending out more information on this, but basically these discussions will be on Wednesday from 11-11:30. This is a chance for students to ask questions that they have during the week. If for some reason you cannot make this time period, then you should email me. The last participation point will be for a question or two that I send out every week. This will be like class discussion and students will have a chance to respond to me and to each other.

Finally those reflection papers. There will be four points each. In these papers I am searching more on what we are discussing and how this speaks to you. Sometimes I may assign a saint or a topic and I would like to see how this may apply to your life or how you can reflect upon this somehow. Don’t be concerned with getting the right answer per se, I am more interested in how you approach the topic.

I hope this works out. Again, if anyone is feeling overwhelmed, please let me know and I can make adjustments to our schedule. This is something that is new for all of us, so please be patient if something doesn’t work right. I will be immediately available to help any student between the hours of 10-12 on Monday and Friday and 9-11 on Tuesday. You can reach me anytime via Google Voice at (213) 787-7456‬ or email [email protected]

Week 1

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Some of you have not completed the assignments last week. I kept it light because I know many of you are adjusting to this new atmosphere. To sum up, there were three assignments last week:
  1. Please watch the video on youtube if you have not done so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUQB_myCZ5o
  2. Please take the studying at home quiz: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1MCtuJKBbIXfjYMQXwIuXmO_MJtMZn-YvM5comyB92Ik/edit
  3. Write a reflection paper on the video. A question I would like to ask as that if we place God in the center of our lives, than how would it apply to working or studying at Home.
Many of you have already sent these items to me, but many of you have not so try to do it as soon as possible. If you are having problems, please email or call me. My email is [email protected] and my Google Voice is: 213-787-7456. We will also be setting up a zoom meeting which all of you will be able to talk to me at least once a week.
